With over 35 years’ experience within the Canberra market, I have worked hard to earn the reputation as one of Canberra’s leading professionals and trusted executive recruitment/career strategist and advisers partnering with organisations and individuals alike to achieve their strategic talent sourcing and career goals.
From the outset, I set out to pioneer a new way of working, restoring people to the centre of employment and recruitment processes. In an industry crowded with one-size-fits-all approaches, I have worked one on one with businesses and individuals to develop and implement their plans relating to their own personal or organisational career/talent goals. This approach is relevant now more than ever.
Organisations are changing and roles are changing – our “work habitat” is changing more rapidly than we ever thought possible. Organisations and individuals need to adapt quickly to this new world. Throughout time habitats have changed, some have evolved while others are completely disappearing. What is clear is that organisations and individuals need to continue to learn and grow, building on their areas of high motivation and building on their expertise, no matter where they are at in their evolution!
Based on this philosophy I have partnered with many organisations and individuals to help them think beyond the current “status quo” and think about what is possible. I have been asking organisations and individuals to think beyond “job titles” and look at the skills and motivations required to fill or undertake a role. Ultimately all of us have areas of growth and development that we require, although we all bring a level of expertise to the opportunity. Ultimately, organisations need to firstly look at the will of individuals to take on roles and validate that they have enough skills – the philosophy is that fit is everything!
I have an established network across Industry, For Purpose, Education and Public Sectors, and until October 2020 I was Deputy Chair of the Canberra Business Chamber, actively working with the Chamber to advocate, connect and support Canberra businesses. Over the past 15 years, I have also played an active role in the broader Canberra community by sponsoring Brumbies Rugby, the ACT government’s skills enhancement program “Canberra your Future”, Lifeline Canberra and St Vincent De Paul Canberra/Goulburn and supported the development of the new St John Paul II College in Gungahlin as the Community Council Chair for 7 years.
I am a registered employment agent in the ACT and hold an Associate Diploma of Business in Management and am a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Prior to starting my own business in 2005, I worked with an international specialist recruitment agency, within several Commonwealth government departments and a major Australian Bank in the areas of operational and customer management, change management and financial services.
